[ A while after something crashes into the forest not too far away from the city. There is haggard breathing for a moment, before a young woman speaks, a threat. ]
Someone will answer for this. [ She's not ready to make threats against the Sky People just yet, they were in a delicate state, just joining the Coalition, if she turned on them so quickly without all the facts, well, it could very well crush everything they had. She's not really sure who she's threatening, since this seems like Sky People technology. ] No weapon will protect you if my people have been harmed.
[ And that's the end of that. ]

[Audio] (Obviously)
[There's a slight underlying threat to his tone, but not towards her. It speaks that he won't tolerate anyone hurting anyone else without a damn good reason.]
There's enough queer shit going on around here for our people to start infighting. I'll knock heads together if it does. Any disruptive punks will have me to deal with. [He pauses and reconsiders his wording a bit.] That means your people are safe if they're here.
Are you injured or do you need assistance? If you're not in the city, I can find you and help you back.
no subject
[ She sounds less menacing, but no more trusting. ]
Which city?
[ Polis? ]
no subject
[Hey, he understands completely.]
Not sure it has a name? I've just been calling it the Oasis City. It's located near the water. Hard to miss. Looks a little rundown, but it's liveable. There's a group of survivors here. If you came down in that ship last night we saw, you sure lit up the sky. It looked smaller than the one that dumped us here, but engulfed in flame, it was kinda hard to tell. I don't suppose it's still in tact enough to fly, is it?
It's safe here. ...from those things in the forest.
no subject
[ Noted. ]
Where are you from? Arkadia?
[ She falls silent for the explanation, interested at least. ] I came from the sky? [ She feels violated. ] It looked ruined.
What things in the forest? [ If he's calling Grounders things, she's going to be very angry. ]
no subject
Arkadia? Like, Greece? No, I'm from Indiana. Originally. Moved to Brooklyn. [This seemed like a strange line of questioning for the situation.
It was a shame to hear that the ship was ruined.]
Yeah. None of us remember how we got there, though. Or how we got in the ship. I'm just guessing there was someone in orbit or something to send us.
People are calling them different things. Walkers, Infected? All I know is they smell like death, but I can hear a heartbeat. It's like they're rabid. They try to kill anything that moves. People are saying not to get bit.
no subject
[ This is very bad if there are still Reapers. She and Wanheda fixed that problem... ]
Arkadia like the Sky People's home.
[ The way he's talking makes it sound like he's a Grounder. ]
You may call me Lexa.
no subject
[He didn't know of any sky people, but he's also been a little out of it for the past 70 years. It could also be a reference to some religion.]
It's a pleasure to meet ya, ma'am. I wish I was able to bring better news. Do you need anything? We have shelter here, supplies. Some of us are military trained, others aren't. We have some skilled hunters and there's some wild game in the forest.
no subject
[ #WomanOfManyWords ]
No. I can make shelter and I arrived with supplies. [ She won't mention that she's probably just as deadly if not deadlier than any of his military trained or hunters. ]
If I require safe passage I will seek you, James. How many of you are there?
[ In case she needs to crush you. ]
no subject
[He has nothing to look at regarding her. No way to read her facial expressions, he just has his instincts to rely on. And those instincts? They're telling him that's a risky question. She mentioned people, so she may not be alone, and her first instinct had been to threaten the community. He wasn't worried about his own safety, he could handle himself. Here's hoping his instincts are just a little too paranoid.]
You know, I haven't taken a head count, but there are plenty of us here. And if your people are here, we can help you find them.
no subject
If my people are with you, you'd know.
[ That's an interesting statement - one she's not going to elaborate on. She's fought wars with less information. She's sure this city of theirs could be taken out if she needed. Poison their water supplies, burn their houses, slaughter their people. It's all things Grounders are good at - Trikru especially.
But she doesn't see the point if she doesn't need to. ]
If you meet a young woman named Clarke - tell her I'm looking for her.
no subject
Will do, ma'am. Anything else I can help you with?
no subject
No.
[ Did... She just end the conversation? Yes, yes she did. W e l p. ]
no subject
I'm not sure who your people are, but most of us here are just as confused as you are. We're still attempting to find answers.
no subject
[ Unfortunately, she's not reassured, if anything the answer makes her more wary. ]
no subject
no subject
no subject
no subject
[ She sounds young, but then Lexa has been fighting since she was young. ]
no subject
[That's a horribly childish answer but she isn't sure how else to say that she's still trying to find her place and what she's skilled at doing.]
no subject
[ There are always so many fighters, they could use more healers. ]
Athena is a good name.

[The crash hadn't been big, but that in and of itself was odd. The ship they'd come down in had to have made a bigger ruckus than the one that came before her call.
Daryl was on his way over already, having tracked the fire trail through the sky as it got close enough it to become obvious it was going to land relatively near to them.]
no subject
[ Well, she's going to be a pain in the ass for him if he's looking for her because she's making an effort not to be tracked, nor is she staying anywhere near where she'd landed. This is an act of war to her, and anyone coming to find her is a threat. ]
What do you know?
no subject
You ever hear of Walkers before?
[Since the majority of the crash survivors hadn't, probably best to start there.]
no subject
[ Sky People acting against each other? ]
No. Are these Walkers the ones that did this?
no subject
No. They're just something you gotta watch out for her. They're uh... they're dead. And they walk. And they eat. And you and any other living thing they come across is the first thing on the menu. If you ain't got a weapon, find one. A rock, a stick, something. You're gonna have to take out the brain if you want any chance of stopping them.
Gonna try to find you. Lead you to the city.
no subject
I made a weapon. [ The sharp piece of shredded metal with the harness belt wrapped tightly around it was apparently going to be her new best friend. ] The dead are gone, they do not walk and eat. If they make the mistake of trying to make me their next meal then I will end them.
[ She contemplates that for a long moment. ]
Which city?
no subject
[She'd learn the easy way or the hard way, but she'd learn.]
The only city near you. Small one, got walls all around, middle of the oasis. On the lake. Ain't found a name for it yet. Been looking but most signs are worn and most paper worth anything's rotted away along with the names on it.
no subject
[ It's not meant as an insult, and she feels the need to elaborate a bit further. ]
I need to find my people.
no subject
[Also not meant as an insult. He had his own people to get back to. He had new people here (mostly new) and he was going to watch out for them. But he had places he'd rather be.]
But let us know what you find, if you find anything,. The rest of us wanna get our asses gone, too.
no subject
[ Oh, she does have the ability to sound less standoffish than she normally does. ]
If I learn anything useful I will share it with you.
Who am I speaking to?
no subject
Thanks. If you decide to come to the city, let me know. I'll get you inside the gates.
no subject
[ Two names. Like Clarke. She makes a thoughtful noise. ]
Is there anything else to know?
no subject
[Was just trying to be polite.
After a moment:]
Nothing pertinent. As long as you can handle yourself out there.
no subject
no subject
no subject
[ You trapped yourself in this corner all on your own, Lexa. ]
no subject
[ Allies, not friends. ]
no subject
[ Just saying. ]
no subject
I make choices with my head, not my heart.
[ That's not an outright denial. ]
no subject
[ Implying he's grown a little bit of heart. ]
You should make your way toward the city walls. It's safe inside them. The people here will welcome you.
no subject
[It's a calm response to a threat, the voice of a young woman who's clearly used to speaking like this to others, trying to calm down those vying for war. Please stop with the death threats okay that helps absolutely no one.]
no subject
[ She sounds like some kind of leader. ]
no subject
[ A leader -- not quite. But perhaps not far from the truth; once a senator, always a senator. ]
