02: Ground Rules (Backdated to the 19th)
[[ooc: Backdated to shortly after this mess with Newt gets resolved and they're back inside the Gates.]
All ya'll talking shit about how we all gotta work together 'cause we're stuck here together best listen the hell up. You want to work together? FINE. First you gotta to is tell the rest of us what hell you can do. No more fucking surprises like some seven foot leopard man!
The only way to pool our goddamn resources are if we know what the fuck they are! And if you can do shit like that, then it's a goddamn resource!
I don't care where the hell you picked to hole your asses up, but if you're gonna talk to me and everyone else about how we should kum-by-fucking-ya, then you best be offering up your skills so we can take full advantage of them.
And don't make runs outside the walls alone no more without telling someone where the hell you're gonna be so we know to keep an eye on you! Hell, I don't even go hunting without telling Glenn I'll be out! You got people to rely on so rely on them!
Fucking hell, people!
[Daryl's angry because he cares. And he hates that he cares.]

[ Interesting. ]
Eating isn't always a luxury everyone has.
[ There have been plenty of times when the living were starving. Was it deserved? No. But it happened.
Lexa watched from the coverage of the forest, curious to his behaviour, he was the one that seemed skittish, before he returned back out to examine the kill. He looked like a warrior, reminded her of Clarke with how he looked like he was a Sky Person that had taken up Grounder ways. ]
I didn't find it.
[ She'd made it, she'd settled on trying to make a new weapon every day. What she wouldn't give for her sword. ]

[They'd starved enough over the last couple years for the perspective of the group to change about how food was viewed. Everyone shared what they had among them. Even the rare treats of candy still in decent shape got shared after some joking around. No hard feelings. No one feeling like they're owed more than any other. It was a good view. One Daryl was comfortable with.
He pulled a rope out of the bag on his shoulder. A blanket, too. Laid the blanket out on the ground so he could grab the deer by the hooves and put it over it. The thing needed skinning but it looked like she'd done most of the basic field dressing already. Once the deer was on the blanket, Daryl pulled a second blanket out. Put it to the side. He dug his knife into the flank, where the thickest meat was, and cut a chunk of it out. Decent size. Could be dried up and last a few days if jerked properly. Or make a really nice meal for one night.
That chunk he put to the side, on the second blanket. Then he folded the first one over the deer and bound it up around the hooves hog-tied style. The field dressing she'd done meant it wasn't dripping with blood. Which was good. The smell wouldn't draw predators and he was glad for that.
The other meat he folded up in the blanket, tied a thinner electrical wire around. Then he slung the bigger package up over his shoulder and walked back inside. Left the smaller package for her. Shut the gate and locked it.]
Be interested if you know how to make a crossbow. If you can get the string for it. Got a friend in here wants to try and make me one. Be helpful if you could give her some pointers.
...left something for you, too.

[ It was clear he'd misinterpreted what she'd meant, but that was usually the way of Sky People. It was meant as an offering for celebration, not for hoarding or to be used as a power play of listen to me or starve.
She watched his movements, curious at first to what he was doing before she realised he was leaving her her share.
The request for help caused her to stay silent for a long time, contemplating it. ] I gave your people food and now you want me to make weapons for you? [ Clearly he was from the Ark, they always expected more when they were shown kindness. They were so weak sometimes. ]
I saw. [ Which meant she was close and she had been watching him, let that be as reassuring or uncomfortable as he'd like, she didn't care. ]

Ain't making no demands.
[Daryl paused, let that settle.]
Thanks for the meat. It'll be appreciated.

A leader that alienates his people will not do well for long at all, and if that happened there were even more options to consider. Whether he changed to mesh with them would be what she would listen to. No point in making alliances with people who have no leader. It was more trouble than it was worth. ]
We'll talk again.
[ Which isn't a no, but it sure as hell isn't a yes, either. ]
